Voice Commands

The Voice Command feature can be started by long pressing the search key while in the bTunes app.

The format for voice commands is:

<action> <item type>(optional) <item name>

Actions:
1) Play - adds the item to the now playing list and starts playing immediately.
2) Shuffle - adds the item to the now playing list and shuffles all other songs included within that item
3) Find - performs a search as though you had short pressed the search key and typed in the item name.

Item Types:
1) Playlist
2) Song
3) Album
4) Artist
5) Genre
6) All - Will add all songs in your library to the now playing list and start playing immediately.

Item Name: The name of the item you want to perform the action on.

For example you could say: "Play Artist Green Day" and all songs from artist Green Day will be added to the now playing list and start to play. "Play" is the action, "Artist" is the item type, and "Green Day" is the item name.

If you said "Shuffle Song Anthem of the Angels", then all songs will be shuffled but the song titled Anthem of the Angels will play first.

If you don't specify an item type and multiple items are found, then you will be presented with a list to choose from.

Above Lockscreen Controls

Some things to note:

1) The above lockscreen controls may take a second or two to load after the first time you unlock your screen while music is playing.

2) If you do not have an unlock pattern set then pressing the home key while the above lockscreen controls are displayed will go directly to the home screen and bypass the lockscreen. If an unlock pattern is set then pressing the home key will still require the unlock pattern be used.

3) The notification bar can be pulled down while viewing the above lockscreen controls.

Last.Fm Scrobbling

bTunes accomplishes scrobbling by using an app called "Simple Last.fm Scrobbler". To use scrobbling in bTunes simply download the free app and sign in to your Last.Fm account via the app's settings. That's it! bTunes will now scrobble to Last.Fm. Make sure the "Scrobble to Last.Fm" option is checked in bTunes.

Simple Last.fm Scrobbler is a very complete and option rich scrobbler. The website is located here: http://code.google.com/p/a-simple-lastfm-scrobbler/

Force Closes

If you are experiencing force closes following these steps can help me solve the problem.

  1. Download "aLogcat" from the market. It's free.
  2. Open aLogcat and it will start logging system events
  3. Press the home key
  4. Open bTunes and reproduce the force close
  5. Open aLogcat again and press the menu key. Click the send option and mail the logs to bmayers15@gmail.com so I can see what is causing the force close.
